I’ve applied to two, Mizzou and Saint Louis University. Did not find them on Cappex, but Cappex did help me gather more information about them! Application process went very smoothly, applied a few days before December 1st. I was very proud of my admissions essay.

  2. Azure says:

I have applied to Virginia Tech, Christopher Newport University, High Point University, Princeton, College of William and Mary, University of Califonia-Berekeley, and I have the applications filled out for the following but have not sent them yet: New York University, Sweet Briar College, and possibly University of Virginia.

I have been accepted to Virginia Tech, High Point, and today Christopher Newport.

It’s good to keep your options open. But start early (I started over the summer of my senior year) and you won’t be driving yourself nuts trying to find places to apply by Janurary 1st. I want to go to William and Mary, but I did not apply early decision….I do not like binding commitments.

Even if you cannot send your apps the moment you finish filling them out, fill them out and put them in a safe place (or online…it’s much easier and no paperwork to keep track of!) Ask your former or current english teachers to critique your essays, and ask for recommendations early so you can get them out of the way.

It’s an exciting time, and explore different places. You’ll have a variety of schools to choose from and even if you think you cannot afford college (i.e. me) apply anyway because there are scholarships for just about everything! You’re bound to find something to suit you 🙂

  3. Jenn says:

My application process went well. I’ve applied and been accepted to two colleges: High Point University and Christopher Newport.

  4. Thundah says:

I have just finished applying to 7 colleges in one school day. It really took a stressful toll on me because the only thing that was holding me back was the college essay. personal essays are the hardest types of essays because talking about yourself takes up so much time and detail. St. johns University was one of the Cappex colleges I applied to!! I just hope I get in to that and the rest of them!!

  5. Sean Iveson says:

I have applied to VA Tech, Steven’s Institute of Technology, Colorado School of Mines, Saint Louis University.Texas A&M, Missouri -Rolla, Case Western Reserve ,Penn State and Gannon University.

  7. Juliet Onyirimba says:

Applying to colleges was really exciting because it is an experience that i have been waiting for. On applying, i applied to three different schools. First was University of Texas at Austin, second was University of Houston, and that third was Baylor University. My first and most important choice was the University of Texas at Austin. It’s been my dream school since i was a little girl. After applying to all these schools, i was accepted to all three.

Two days later after i applied to all the three schools, i got an email from the University of Texas at Austi, telling me that i have been accepted. I was excited because it was the first school that i applied to, and the first to write my a letter of acceptance.

So in generally speaking, my application process was a great success.

    Happy Holidays to all!
I’ve applied to Cornell University, the University of Miami, George Washington University, University of Delaware, University of Rochester and SUNY Binghamton & Stony Brook as safety. I haven’t heard from anywhere yet, and waiting is just as hard as finishing the applications!
I’ve just finished my application process and I must say, the earlier the better. Time-crunched essays are not fun. I’m a music/bio double major, so I had twice the applications, and auditions loom. But I’m keeping my options open and hoping it’ll be worth it in the end.

  11. Greg says:

I applied to 7 colleges: Boston University, University of Connecticut, Northeastern University, Cornell University, Carnegie Mellon University, Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute, and Worcester Polytechnical Institute. So far I’ve been admitted into WPI and Northeastern because I applied to both EA and I should be hearing back from UConn and RPI soon. I think I had to write about 4 or 5 different essays and it was a pain in the butt, but I’m relieved to have gotten them all done in November and December.

  12. Roshni says:

I applied to: Princeton, Harvard, Columbia, UC Berkeley, Yale, MIT, University of Michigan, RPI, University of Pennsylvania.

I have applied for MGCCC in Perkinston Mississippi, which is a community college. And I have also applied for University of Southern Mississippi, which is better known as USM. Now, I just filling out applications for scholarships to pay for college so I can be able to get in without paying for it myself because it does get expensive after going to school for a certain length of time.

  14. Mario says:

I have applied to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Maryland, College Park, and Howard. Though I applied before using Cappex, Cappex still helped me know if they were a good match for me and which ones would be considered targets or safeties. Also make sure you visit the colleges. They usually have sheets and booklets of information that may not be easy to find on their websites, and you can also talk to students to get the real story about the college. My visit to Chapel Hill solidified it as my #1 choice.

  15. Aileen says:

I’ve applied to University of Miami, Florida International University, University of Florida, Florida State University, Loyola New Orleans, and Tulane University. I’ve only heard from FSU and I was accepted.

  19. Toan says:

I started really late on my college search (bad idea***). I was so focus on my SAT I and IIs that I procrastinated my applications until November. I really was waiting for my final SATs scores to be sure that I was at least in the mid-range percentile of my college choices. So here are my colleges: Vanderbilt, Emory, The College of William & Mary, University of Virginia, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, George Mason, and Virginia Commonwealth. Thank you cappex for helping me out!

  20. Petra says:

I will be attending California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I applied in October. I spent about 2 weeks looking over the application to make sure it was perfect. I found out on November 29th that I was accepted for Early Decision.

  21. Courtney says:

I’ve already finished sending out my applications. I applied to Cedar Crest College, Lycoming College, Drexel University, Arcadia University, and West Chester University of Pennsylvania. So far I have received awesome letters of admission to Cedar Crest, Lycoming, and Arcadia (

  22. Kaitlyn says:

I applied to Boston University, Boston College, Wentworth, Harvard, UMASS Dartmouth, Bridgewater State, Bristol Community College, Rochester Institute of Technology, and WPI. Mostly all the really good technical schools in New England besides MIT. haha.

The essay was the hardest for me. I started thinking about a topic in September, didnt think of one until NOVEMBER. That was the most stressful part. Other than that, everything went smoothly. I was a big nag to my teachers for their letters of reccomendations — but I sent in my apps well in advanced. [the first week of December]

Advice to juniors: START EARLY!!! Don’t wait for anything. Also, don’t wait for your teacher rec’s. NAG THEM LIKE NUTS. I was the only person to get all my teacher rec’s. Everyone else is basically screwed in general words. haha.

  23. Courtney E Edwards says:

I have applied to one college and got in. I was really scared because I applied super early and I was worried that I wasn’t going to get. But then a couple of weeks after the deadline I found out I was accepted. I am going to The University of Cincinnati! Yay!

I’ve already been accepted to SHSU, UofH, and BU. The rest I should hear about in March/April.

  26. Trevor says:

I started late, late, late! I have applied to Tarleton State U.
I had been involved in a project for Sr. year of HS as well as my small business to complete. I won Grand Champion in Ag Mech in San Antonio, Tx and now back to finishing my schooling process. I am committed to an Agricultural degree of some sort. Possibly Engineering and/or business.
Anyone know how the letters of recommendations are sent OR are they given back to us students to send? I am business minded in the design and build catagories, however my chain of command saavy is zilch! I also wish to apply to Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Tech….possibly 2 others I am looking into applying.
