You've managed to find the right college for you, filled out your college application forms and written your college admission essay. Now that you've submitted your application, perhaps the most difficult period of time is still ahead of you – waiting to hear back from your prospective universities.
The number of college applications received by some of the larger universities might surprise you. According to an article that was published by U.S. News and World Report, the University of California Los Angeles received more than 57,000 applications last year alone. St. John's University in New York ranked second, the the report stated, with more than 54,000 students applying to the school. Drexel University in Pennsylvania receive almost 49,000 college applications, and San Diego State University reported more than 44,000 applications.
Although these numbers might be intimidating, it shouldn't discourage you from applying to these schools. A well-planned college application is what college admissions officers are looking for, so talk to your parents, teachers and student adviser about how to make your college application stand out from the crowd. Take extra time when you are writing your essay, as this is one of the most important parts of your college application.
